nycL45 05-18-2006, 12:39 AM Last Nov./Dec. '05, there was lengthy discussion and good arguments for and against routing threads to remote subforums (http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=289981&highlight=forum). The outcome of that open and fair debate was a consensus to leave the forum as is.
Since there has not been any complaints to my knowledge, please allow the members to participate in the discussion about the format of the community's forum.

Since the forum was divided up, I visit less and ignore the subforums almost completely. When I come to this forum I want to read the latest threads in one shot without having to search around. I appreciate that the sub forums were well intentioned, but I think they have added needless overheard to trying to keep up and have only made it more difficult to follow what's new.

I agree. Liked it alot better without all the subforums. I could just come to 1 spot and look at everything I needed. Now I don't bother really going to the subforums and looking at the threads in there. Yes I know all it takes is a few clicks to go through each forum and in the grand scheme of things, those extra clicks amount to maybe 20 seconds of time. BUt, it's still just a pain to do so.
It's kind of like watching tv. If I can't find the remote and have to get up and change the channel on the actual tv, then I won't do it. BUt if I have the remote in hand, I'll literally go through every single channel finding whatever show it is I want.

I have no problem at all with the subforums. I frequent them often. There are some good sticky threads in there. But thats just me...

Sorry this subject is not open for discussion, CGTalk is a moderated forum (unlike a number of other forums), forum maintenance is one of the roles of forum leaders/moderators. Moving of threads into their correct locations is a part of that.
I do leave threads in the main area for the most part for a sufficient period and when moving leave a redirect is left in the main forum so that posters can find where their threads have gone to. The subforums are there for you usage, and you do have the choice to use them or not when you innitially post, however threads that are deemed out of place will be shifted into their correct locations on CGTalk as a part of regular forum maintenance.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, however maintaining CGTalk to the standards expected involves the moval and removal of threads that are more suited to other areas, we hope you understand our position on this issue.
If you wish to have the subforums removed then once again I would recommend you post in the suggestions forum here : http://forums.cgsociety.org/forumdisplay.php?f=155
Thank-you
