View Full Version : why merging scenes takes too much time?
Naseem 05-17-2006, 10:23 PM not all scene files are that frustrating! but i'v ben merging scenes alot to keep the rig settings and transfer clip animaitons and matching orientation etc. but i think its bulding up a junk nodes!
i'm wondering how can optimize the scene and flush out the uneeded nodes?

when you have layers in models and scenes, upon import a comparison of the layers' names and their contents is run, to make sure that everything ends up in the right layer.
I don't do much scene merging except for emergencies or disaster recovery, but with models the number of layers and number of items in each layer can make a difference in times.
what do you mean by "too much time" though? If we're talking like 10 minutes then it might be an anomaly, if we're talking a minute, VS 10seconds when you have no layers, then it might be a perfectly normal situation. "too much" is way too subjective sorry :)
also get in touch with soft's support and send them the data we're talking about, they can tell you if there's an anomaly or a bug there in a much more timely and reliable fashion then a random CGTalk user could.
