Would someone brief us on what is with the moving of threads? Has there been a new policy change? Back in Nov./Dec. 2005 there was an announcement and discussion: http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=289981&highlight=forum

I think it's a product of the desire to have sub-forums.

I personally wish they'd just leave everything in one place - I don't want to check 5 forums to see all the recent C4D posts. All it does for me is make me miss alot of discussions (in my opinion actually killing possibly good/useful topics becuase many won't see them).

just my 2 cents

if a thread is about rendering, it goes in the rendering forum
tutorials in the tutorial one etc

far more organised

so where are the modeling, texturing, animation, character related, plugins, importing/exporting, etc, sub forums?

it just seems odd to me that they choose just a few aspects of working with C4D to have sub forums - and then left almost everything else to the main forum

is "rendering" or "expresso" far more important than "modeling" or "texturing"?

just more of my 2 cents

We need to keep the forum clean, clear and easy to use for the members. There are right places to post things and to find things, you wouldn't for instance post software specific questions in the CGTalk General Discussion area.

There is in fact have a modeling forum at CGTalk here : http://forums.cgsociety.org/forumdisplay.php?f=53

We have the subforums that we have through the requests of the members and through a demonstrable need to have these areas.

If you desire to have a C4D specific modeling subforum or any other C4D speciifc subforum then you should request it through the CGTalk Suggestions forum with a suitable argument for this http://forums.cgsociety.org/forumdisplay.php?f=155

We hope this doesn't cause you any inconvenience, however it is necesary for the maintenance and upkeep of CGTalk to a sufficient standard expected of by the community as a whole.
