Batch Rendering in Maya (Mac) can be a bit of a mystery if you are trying to find out more about how the rendering is going visually. Looking at lines of code in the script editor just doesn't do it for me.

Just wondering if anyone out there has used or knows of any mel scripts that give you a UI Rendering progress window, so you can see what is going on visually, and maybe even give a better estimate of where the rendering is, and how long it will take to finish. There's got to be some mel script out there that works with Mac Maya 3.5.1. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks for your suggestions.

You have a point, but showing the render process/progress realtime on your screen will slow down the rendering process.
Most packages do it like you say.(max, lightwave)
But it actually costs alot CPU/GPU speed.

You can compare it with games, simple games have a high framerate, heavy games have a slow framerate.
Rendering works the same, your computer tries to show an animation frame by frame.
Because actual maya rendering code is far more heavier than any gamegraphics these days, maya renders with a relatively slow framerate compared to games.

If you would want maya to show the actual frame, it's gonna cost you on speed.
I thought i'd just tell you, you might see the picture, but it would render slower, because maintaining a framerate(that's actually what rendering is, a framerate, only far slower than in games or viewports) costs CPU/GPU power.
