CGTalk - Normal maps in XSI

View Full Version : Normal maps in XSI - How?????

I figured now is the time for me to start learning how to normal map if i'm going to want a decent enough reel to break into the games industry. I've searched the web for suitable tutorials and resources and came across this D3 normal map tutorial (http://be3d.republika.pl/howto_d3_normalmap.html)
trouble is when i attempt this i cant seem to bring up the D3 normalmap generator node in the render tree?? Has anyone successfully done this tutorial?

Also any other tutorials or helpful info about normal maps (in XSI only please) would be great. I just really want to start to get to grips with this as it feels like i've hit a brick wall trying to get it to work:(

thanks oglu thats helped a great deal. What i am lookin to do as well is learn how to add normal maps in the render tree (i.e. ones created from bump maps)

Pretty sure theres just a node for it at, nodes - bump- normal map
