View Full Version : RSL and ani-aliasing with raytracing?
bobtronic 05-17-2006, 04:52 AM Hi,
I like to learn more about anti-aliasing of raytraced RSL shaders. For example when I use the trace() shadeop I get pretty ugly aliasing. I use 3Delight 5.0. I usally try to avoid raytracing but sometimes it's very useful.
thanks in advance
btw. where can I find a dedicated RSL/RMan forum?

I found a solution for the aliasing problem. I just have to increase the samples in the trace() or shadow() shadeop. Still I like to know where I can find more about this topic.

Any good reference on monte carlo raytracing will tell you the principles of sampling adn function reconstruction. I belive i saw someone in this forum link to the renderman monte carlo course notes, which are great.

There's the Renderman Academy (http://rendermanacademy.com/phpBB2/index.php). Unfortunately its not as active as it could be, but you should get help if you ask.
