Something curious is happening to the shadows in this multi pass render, and I wonder If anyone has seen anything like this before, or have any clue as to the cause.

As you casn see fron the attached frame, areas of the shadow pass are dropping out. There is an image on a background object in the sceene, and the areas of missing information seem to correspond to shadow areas in the background plate.

Any suggestions

Hi
Looks very strange. How is your bkg. object set up?
Looks like some kind of clipping.
Can you comp the render over the bkg. in post instead?

Not sure if this will make any difference - but there is tick-box called "Shadow Correction" in the Multi-Pass Dialogue. Not sure what it does, and its default is 'off' but I usually tick it to 'on' anyway.

Worth a try?

Otherwise if that doesn't work, as suggested above, I would comp the background in P'shop later.

Cheers,

D.

Yes, I''ve been eyeing up that inocent looking little tick-box. The manual is a bit sketchy about it's precise purpose but Im going to try it both ways later and see it helps.
