Hello,

Has anyone ran into this situation?

I'm caching particle data and Maya 4.0 freezes up when the caching data becomes to large. All physical memory is used up but Maya doesn't seem to want to use virtual memory.

I realize purchasing more physical memory will probably remedy this issue,...but is there a way in Windows 2000 to manually set virtual memory allocation to Maya. The reason why I say this is because the machine I'm working on can only support 1 GB of physical memory.

Can Maya even utilize virtual memory on Windows 2000? And if so, can it be used to cache particle data?

Thanks for your time,

Ryan

Sounds like your hitting the 1.5 gb memory ceiling. 32 bit operating systems cannot allocate more then 2 gb of memory to any single process(2gb on paper, but in reality its more like 1.5/1.6 gb). Doesn't matter if its physical or virtual, one app cannot get more than 1.5 gb total ram assigned to it.
