i was wondering were some good 3d head or body modeling tutorials. I need to find 1 for a school project

just look under the free stuff headings, contains some good tutorials, you could also download the meshes and study them to get an idea also, edge loops wise

inspiration often helps, aswell I found the book character modelling by ballistic pretty handy.

I've searched for tutorials, and they skip vital steps in modeling a head, they usually just say "put in the details" and just show you a before and after picture, I need very specific details on modeling the nose, mouth, and eyes, or maybe even a video tutorial.

You should check the links already posted. Here is a direct link to probably the most in-depth character modeling tutorial you'll find: http://67.15.36.49/ffa/tutorials/max/joanofarc/joanmenu.asp

That deals with making a character using only the most basic of tools, nothing fancy.

Oh sorry did I mention I'm using maya? That tut you just posted is perfect, but it's on 3dsmax.:rolleyes:

That doesn't matter. There is also an extrude funtion in maya ;).
