HI all

my darktree/simbiont plugins are not working
http://www.sukio.de/resources/TIWdteXSI/
&
http://www.darksim.com/html/download_simbiont2.html

wanted to check

Because I have XSI 5.1 Ess 32 & 64 bit installed to the same computer
I had some problem with licencing but then I install 4.2 Ess and Darktree works there

I think it may be connect to a Mental Ray update in 5.1, But not totally sure =/

can someone confirm it's not working in 5.1 ?

Sorry to say this, but here it's working perfectly with 32bits, even with network rendering.

well that's good news ...But bad for me
XSI 4.2 works fine but 5.1 does not like the idea
have to do some more playing :wip:

edit - Reinstalled XSi 5.1 Works now

HI all

you don't need it any more, you have very nice Render Tree!

Now i got it working in my XSI ess 5.1, Messiah and Lightwave
I can have the same textures in all 3 render engines :bounce:
the only negative is i have to build the render trees in XSI and messiah
But that's pretty easy :p

e-mail Darkling Simulations http://www.darksim.com/ and ask for a native port (Like Lightwave's, Max, Cinema's) for XSI. If a lot of people ask maybe they will make one.

I know the current one works (ok) but it would be nice to have the same features as the other plugins.

I really don't think so, sorry. what's the point of having a packaged
material in an environment like the rendertree ?? it's true that maya
with multioutput better accomplishes the way the shader was developed
for but using multiple nodes in xsi is not slower than using only one.

I'm quite happy with the state of the current Darktree <-> XSI interaction.
But what I'd like to see the most is a 1:1 conversion of the cool Darktree noise, natural, gradient and cellular shadernodes to MR / Rendertree. So you can build your own "Dark-Rendertree" without having to leave your favourite application! ;)

infact that's what I do. I created some preset as phenomena
with already tweak enabled and some other nodes attached
and drag and drop darktree shaders into xsi as I do with any
other xsi/mr native shaders. I even hide the path name.
I also using bump generator from darktree instead to use the
one in xsi.. as for what I have set it up I just need to plug
any shader into it and voilą a 3D bump.

I'm glad SimbiontXSI is working in 5.1 ... I was worried ...

One thing I've noticed where a Darktree XSI Simbiont implementation might be advantageous is SimbiontXSI's failure to evaluate at least a couple of Darktree components, specifically, Derivative and File. Maybe it's me, but a friend tells me this is evident with SimbiontMaya, also.

I really like the Derivative component's slope sourcing, otherwise I wouldn't mention it ... but, any chance of a fix, Fran?
