View Full Version : Question: Texture a Mirror

I was wondering if any of you fine people would be able to explain to me how best to texture a mirror. A mirror in Maya. One that reflects everything. Even small sheep, or large raisens.

I'll spare you my usual hyperactivity, mostly becouse the Dr. Skipper hasent kicked in yet - and im currently supplimenting with chocolate, to make up for the withdrawl symptoms from lack of video gameing as well - therfore i lack the nessesary energy.

I would use a blinn with these settings and raytracing turned on:

Color(0,0,0);
Diffuse 0;
Eccentricity 0;
Specular Roll Off 1;
Specular Color (1,1,1);
Reflectivity 1;

This should be pretty reflective. You might want to reduce the reflectivity a little if it seems too bright and perfect. I guess this is an ok start though. Try it and see.

I would also try to avoid having the light source reflected because it will not show up and it might look strange.
