This is a small project for school which is due next week.
the subject was a fantasy image from a mantis. this was the first thing that came into my head..
I've spent one day modeling and one day texturing, lighting and compositing using Maya 7.0 and Photoshop CS.
all feedbacks are welcome.

The Blurriness on his Right leg (Viewers Right) is a little weird though, I think that if were focused on him, then he and the leaf he's sitting on should both be in focus.

The modelling is good, and the textures look nice and photo real, are the leaves photos mapped or did you make them yourself in photoshop?

Hey little man .... I didn't hear from you in a long long time... :)

Sweet image indeed ! There are some things that are bugging me though...

1. I agree with jbarr about the whole blur and focus thing....
2. Neck is a little bit boxy ... if u know what i mean ...

good work oveis... hope to see more of your work soon ...

Very nice! I like the soft lighting and the textures are great, too. I think the eyes should be darker though, and I'd also make the leaves a bit darker to focus the attention a bit more on the praying mantis.

Fun idea to have a saintly praying mantis, hehe. :)

thanks for all the replies and suggestions. very true.

I had different thoughts while doing the focus and changed it couple of times, but I'm going to tweak it more later.

and leaves are photo mapped.
