Fantastic renderin on her face. Love it! Was really hoping you'd post this image after seeing it in you avatar.
Don't really have anything useful to say except wow. And love the cats in the background, and the one perched up front.
Does your story involve a lot cats *gleeful*? Then I want to read it. :)
good work benita :applause:
skintones and shadowplay are excellent
only compared to the rest of her body, her hair could be a little sharper...or maybe i just need glasses soon...

WOW! This is gorgeous! the play between defined and blurred areas is very cool, almost has an old photographic feel to it. skin tones are great, Very nice job!
If I had to make 1 crit, it would be to have a little more detail in those kitties in the background, but that's just being nitpicky.

WoW! the textures are beautiful as well as the figure, and so much detail. Just amazing!
a question, did you use and photographic textures in the background? in some places it seemed like it, but i'm not too sure...
once again, Awesome!
simply fantastic!
it reminds me of bergkvists artworks - great mood and coloring!

thank you for your feedback - it's very much appreciated! <3
right now i'm fighting my way through the whole anatomy matter..
which is still quite a lot of work.. though i have found a very good
anatomy-teacher here in berlin.. as soon as there is something to show,
i will keep you updated :)
bao: i'm glad you like it, thank you!
to get some variation, i have used some custom-brushes from my library..
one of my favourite brushes is actually made of indian papadam bread..
(i used it to get the gold-sparcles on the velvet cap of "jadefox")
other details were painted on separate documents and then copied into
the real image..
i was lazy, so i only painted one leaf and one bunch of
bluerain berries :D
http://www.dunkelgold.de/cgtalkpix/texture+berries.jpg
and here is the cloned leaf in action:
http://www.dunkelgold.de/cgtalkpix/leafs.jpg
Very cool; the palette, mood and theme reminds me Linda Bergqvist's work. What bothers me though is the difference of treatment in the rendering, some parts rendered with very soft edges while others with hard edges.

I already wrote tomany comments like this, but I just can't help it...:
Wow man!!!
captivating.
I like it, she's attractive but scary
* edit: wow girl!!! ;-)
Love your other works also!

05-16-2006, 02:36 AM
Beautiful!
I love how the soft, diffuse painting style you've used contrasts with what looks like a rather violent story (the claws, poultice on the wound)...really evocative.
My only crit, I suppose, is to sharpen up the blurry cat-creatures in the background. They don't have quite the texture of the far-background; neither do they have the same detailing as the tree that they appear to be next to.
Whatever. I can't wait to see more!
*I just noticed that her eyes are purple. Neato...I first thought they were jet-black.

thank you everybody :)
diegoth: *me loves the greens too* the creatures are midnightkitties, some sort of chary catlike ghosts, only visible to certain people..
artjunkie: cheers! and congrats on the job!
spex84: thank you for pointing that out, i'm experimenting with ways to simplify parts of
the picture, so that i don't have to overload the whole image with details..
but yes, there should be a consistency in the sharpness-blurriness-"texturedness"
i'll try to do better in the next image!
oh, and yes: purple the eyes are - with all that green going on, i thought that might be a nice contrast,
glad you noticed that!
thanks again for the feedback! *back to work*

Nice work again Benita, although some areas still seem to have a bit of an unfinished feel to them though as if they are caught between defined and undefined and are not yet sure which of those directions to take, the cats in the background onb the right for example
edit: oooops just seen others have picjked up on the same points......must drink my coffe before posting :banghead:

I will prolly be smacked for this but what the heck.
This is a beautiful painting. Its technically perfect and its a wonderful use of colours and a beautiful motive. But it looks like someone else here on the forum painted it. (Talking bout the swedish lady from the north)
I would love to see you head off in an own direction, with a style of your own, cause you do have the possibility to do it.
Keep it up!

Stunning as usual. You know... I'm really amazed that none of your artwork is in the choice gallery. It deserves to be there. Heck, the number of comments you get on your art makes that pretty obvious. :)
I know some people say your stuff is like LBs. I think that the two of you are very good at capturing realism, but I can see the difference in your styles. In general, your color schemes are different, and your characters are more fantasy-like. Please don't stop what you are doing! So many of us love your stuff!

Danke für dieses schöne Bild!
P.S.: Hope it's ok if I'm writing in german, I just couldn't express those feelings with the english words I know.

Its the Eyes! Pure black, empty, Cold, and parted from emotion the eyes can give off. Maybe sounding a bit dramatic but i love those black eyes.
The character looks like a Darker rendition of a Nymph, a version that would fit in a mood setting of Constantine.
Beautiful Image Benita.

Wow! You and Linda have a lot in common with your artistic taste and style.
But still there's something about your style that's not Linda. I can't pinpoint it yet but...I wonder if it's where you put a lot of detail on...like her watery eyes.
Mayber her finger-claws...

This superb painting makes me think of the Greek forests from the times of the Olympian gods/goddesses and heroes/heroines. They were teeming with mythological creatures and beasts; this particular character reminds me of a nayad, or a hamadryad, although her metamorphosis looks like it's heading more towards werewolf. This greenish hue that pervades all the image simply gives me goosebumps, it's sublime. 5 stars from me, bravo!

This is amazing work. Has the look and feel of a true art piece. Do you use a model to create or does this come straight out of your head?
Have you ever created a tutorial that explains your creative process for this type of art? I would love to follow the progress of something like this.
Keep up the amazing work.

Thats such a cool picture! Shes very intriguing - but I would not want to mess with her - she looks like she could get very angry!

Marvelous; when looking at this- I feel music, and vibrant spectres crossing the blood-brain barrier, changing..

Incredible! I actually saw this on dA and had it as my background for more than a week - which is a big thing, I change my background pretty often. Beautiful job, such detail. It's incredible. Makes me want to cry. Or steal your soul.
