View Full Version : Operating Systems for MAX users?!?!
igor popovic 01-07-2003, 04:29 AM ok, so my question is what would be the best OS for max 5, i started out with 2000 pro, that was kinda crappy, now i am on XP, this os produces strange lil' side effects, like improper measurements of raytraces etc. I am wondering if i would be better off using a linux system, someone please explain to me more about this matter. I have always been interested in a basic, but reliable os, that will perform like a workstation!

LINUX->Wine->Max??
What's the advantage??
I've been using NT for years, and I'm pretty happy with it.

Computers are crappy. Use win2k, it's as workstation as it gets, just try to troubleshoot it. Like make sure all the chipset drivers are in place and try several video card drivers. Which video card are you using anyway?

i thought you could run max in linux...
i used win2k, but then it expired cuz it was a timed offer deal, so i'll try and get a full version i guess...also, i'm running on a nvidia, nforce 64mb card.
what about imac or apple computers...are those possible to customize, i dont know anything about these computers...
thanks

You can run maya , lightwave , formZ on macs. Imacs are not good for workstations, but their G4 towers are useable. Macs are slower and more expensive, not the best choice for 3d.
