here is a reference photo and 4 stages I went through. I could really use some crits to help get this looking it's best.

maybe I should bring in the eyes, and put some more reddish hue in the skin tone.

Nice concept work, although you've really made this guy look as if is coming from the artic with all the fuzz. Check out how your arm is shaped from the deltiod to the bicep, it looks a bit weird and your triceps are a bit flat. If you are going for realism and this character is modeled after you then bump up the muscle tone and bulk. As for the skin tone, try adding a tad bit of yellow and a light rose to the skin and maybe a lil' cyan. If you go too far with the cyan your skin will become muddy. I've always used salmon as my base color to map out all the higs and lows before adding any other colors to get true skin. Good luck with the project.:beer:
