RedSquirrel 05-12-2006, 11:27 AM Stopped on by BlenderNation where there was a mention that the Elephants Dream was on YouTube, so I've hunted it down and here's the link.

Its a good animation although I feel that the character animation in the beginning is not as smooth as in the end but other than that you have to watch it to see the amount of detail team Orange put into it, its simply amazing stuff.

I would definately NOT judge the short by this video... The quality is very bad and all the subtle details are lost (the animation is not completely fluid in the official version, but definately a LOT smoother!)
Yeah, we're currently encoding the videos and they'll be online within a couple of days. I'd really recommend that you wait just a little bit longer and watch the official version. The YouTube version is very lousy and really doesn't do justice to the work that we put into it.
thanks!

I receive the Dvd yesterday, and the quality is really good, the sound really well worked, actors make an incredibly voice work and I discovered a lot of effect very well rendered , I was wonder if it was made with blender. :) Of course, in the making of , they show the new develloppement ( incredible future function, about the internal rendering / material ).
The Dvd menu is attractive and the making off video contains a lot of fun things.
The sources are good too. So , I'm really happy to buy it there is some month ago. It was a real surprise in my letter box !
Good work to Ton and the Orange Team !

True indeed. I'm tempted to post some high-resolution screenshots, but I'll wait until public downloading is available.
It's a marvelous thing you have put together. It will be the most important thing that has happened to Blender since the fund-raising times. It will open eyes and minds and it will change a lot people's opinion about Blender
My only criticism is that animation needs a bit more of work, but the rest of the film is just wonderful, INDEEED!
Matt, a trailer would have been nice, to get people excited!

I'm still waiting for my DVD here in Canada, and there's no deliveries on the weekend so I guess Mon at the earliest ;)
Most people on BlenderArtists have criticized the story / script if they have found any fault with the movie.
For those of you who have watched/listened to commentary, I'm curious to hear what the story was supposed to be about.

I've seen a lot of short movies whose arguments make no sense at all. The argument is the most subjective thing to criticise I think.
I don't agree with many of the filipp's opinions. He thinks that character's animation "it's stellar".
I don't agree at all. IMO character's animation sometimes would have needed more work.
But I agree with him, in general this short movie is just spectacular!
