View Full Version : Image Plane skew, resizes when zooming in?

Hi there :)

Could someone please help me.
In Maya 7 I have loaded the plane images into side, front and top views. The images line up exactly with the model I'm making, when looking at the model and image from a normal distance away. But when I move in to a very close look at the vertices I notice that the image and
model skew out of alignment.
The Image plane seems to get a bit bigger than the model the closer I get to it.
Is there anyway to stop this from happening so I can zoom in really closely to the vertices and image. Also under ImagePlane tab > Image Plane Attributes> the radio button > Image Plane > "fixed" to on

Thanks for your help
Gregory

never experienced anything like that before. but you could try to put a polygon plane and place your image there.

this won't help the fix to your problem, but you aren't the only one......when I was in school, a couple years ago, I had the SAME problem there....never figured out what it was though...Didn't have the problem at home though....hmmmm....make sure to MSG if you find out in another thread though.

In your Maya env file (Maya.env in docs\maya\7.0\ for example) add the line

MAYA_NON_POWER_TWO_OFF = 1

Restart maya and see if it works...

Just make your image planes on the default side and front views, then go to panel>orthographic>new> side and the new front (and top if you need it). It skews because the camera has a hard time keeping the image the same size while zooming in because the camera itself is what is displaying the image, so if you zoom in it thinks it should zoom the image plane also. This workaround will also help with image plane lag with large images (tiff).

I'm currently facing the same problem, is there an ON or OFF option for the camera to not try and zoom the picture as well?

It seems to be working fine. I set up an image plane set to fixed on the default side and made a simple sphere. Sphere is the same aspect relative to the plane......
