Like it. Especially the translucent plastic material. Cool character design.
I'd love to see animations when you get them done.

well, the shortmovie will be finished end of feb.
i'm currently animating 24/7 so i don't have any testanims :-)
and i don't want to show my final animations.
but maybe i will submit some animations at the end of the week.
@flow:
yes, you're right. i added the legs after i finished the rest.
and the legs are not really final. i will add more detail.

Like it very very much. Very organic robot you have ;) And some great materials too... I have little question: Is this cute translucent material useful for animation or it renders too long?
:thumbsup: :thumbsup:

hey there,
nice model, but...
i'm not trying to nitpick, but you should check up on "The Maxx", a series of comics by Sam Kieth, later adapted into an animation series for Mtv. Just make sure there are no copyright issues with that particular spelling of Maxx.
better to sort it out now than to deal with such problems later.
keep it up, dude

very nice!
I work in lightwave, but I'm learning XSI as well...so I'd love to know how you made that shader for the rubber look..it's beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!
Also like the fact that the parts go into the plastic and don't just vanish in there....it makes it look very real.
peace,
Kane

@beatabix:
yeah, i know. "maxx" is just the workingtitle, 'cause i didn't find a better one, yet. but the name of the robot is maxx. i think that's ok.
these testimages i made are without radiosity or fg or gi or such things. just standard raytracing with one area light.
the material of the plastic is simply a phong node with an incidence- and colorcorrection- node for transparency. oh, and frost; frost is cool:-). and translucency.
and, btw: the parts inside the robot are not textured now. its just the phong.
