I know the basic tools in Max 5, but wanted to know what book you would recommend between Max 5 For Dummies, Max 5 Fundamentals, Max 5 Bible, and 3D Studio Max Illuminated 5 ??
thanx

I can create a box and apply a modifier to it and move points around and bevel etc, and can animate basic, other than that, i am still learning, maybe videos on 3Dbuzz.com will be enough?

Have you done the tutorials included with max? There are many tutorials online as well, if you use google you can find out quite a bit. As far as the books, I think your best bet would be to go to a book store and check them out even if you plan to buy online(cheaper). I would say either the fundamentals, or bible are probably your best options, based on the previous versions I have seen.

If you have read through the manual and have a really good grasp of the over all layout then you may want to either pick up the Inside max line of books and the Bible. These both go above and beyond the manuals.

the best way is to get some good online tutorials. see the sticky thread at top for urls. find one that is similar to aproject you want to do

heres the secret:
now, in max, right click on a viewport label [thats the text that says right, front, user, etc, in the upper left of a viewport]

now select views > extended > asset browser

in the address bar, type the url of the site you want to see in the window

this is a great way to learn, wihtout the cost of books which are not taht good in the first place. i mean, online you can find a tut that will be more specific to what you want to do
