yeah -- any beta questions should be asked on the choasgroup forum. You won't find many other 1.5 users anywhere else.

How about this solution : DONT DOWNLOAD ILLEGAL SOFTWARE.
Im surprised one of the more gung-ho Chaos members hasnt planted a virus ridden version of it by now just to kill off the other pirates.

Yeah, I mean, Its one thing that people pirate openly available software to learn. It happens, and its actualy good for the market 'at times'. But, people were TRUSTED with those betas. TRUSTED personaly to keep track of those beta's. It was like, what 8 people who had it? And someone had the nuts to release it and betray Vlado and the others, that just ticks me off. That kinda stuff should have some nice Max killing corruptions placed in it for pirates.
Unless someone hacked into their comp and stole it. Did vlado and the others ever figure it out?

It really makes me angry, but what can you do? I'm honestly pissed at Chaos for giving out the closed beta to *SOME* firms (like our primary competitors in our regional market) and not to smaller firms like us. So our rivals get a leg-up on all this shit while us little guys aren't "trusted" enough. And look what happens, it still leaks.
Time for a point release. On the piracy end -- hang anyone doing commercial work with unlicensed software by their toenails. No mercy. All the kiddies who want to learn this shit, that's FINE, that's how everyone I know started. But the minute you start turning profit off that application, BUY IT.
End of rant.

Shaun, you gotta realise that the people they gave it to use it on a "risk" basis. That build isnt released because they have to test it and modify it to make sure its in working order before it gets to the consumer. Its realy just to try and protect their consumers as much as possible. Ive seen another propular render to what seemed to be the opposite and just release what they called a "release candidate' that in no way seemed to fill out the deffinition of that an RC is supposed to be, like "mostly working".
Anyway, I dont think all the people who got copies were part of Large companies. I think a few of em were probably independents or part of smaller firms. These were just people who asked and who were trusted with a copy of it.
Question though, the Beta for 1.48 is on a "ask to recieve" system, so you had to actualy ask them for a copy of it, and they would probably judge weither or not they could trust a large enough firm with the product, and what have you... did you ask them?
I do however think they should implement a tagging system. so they put an arbitrary number somewhere inside the file that no one will notice. so they can keep track of what file is being leaked. Then they know who was the one who either released it or in the case of hacking or user abuse by others, whomever released it by copying it from that person.
I think it would work out better for them if they could try and make a number system just for those beta's at least.

I am still amazed at how dumb some people are. He doesnt even know that the latest build is not 1.5. If your going to be a warez idiot, at least dont ask such stupid questions.
The phrase "I have a probleme with vray 1.5" is the same as saying "I STEAL SOFTWARE."
Da_Elf.....Im missing your old avitar over at the chaos forums:)
