I was thinking of doing music related topics...
People would have to post a link to a song

And we would have to draw what ever the music brings to your mind.

The only rule is that the link HAS to be legal and the music cool.
What do you guys think?

For example:
Pink's Stupid Girl >>LINK<< (http://www.pinkspage.com/)
Wil's Shatner's Ordinary People >>LINK<< (http://www.shatnerhasbeen.com/ecard/)

Sounds like a great idea. Music can evoke so many different responses. Sometimes the lyrics get to you, at other times its a mood.

I am sure a lot of people draw while music is playing! (I do so occassionaly)

I think this would be a very good idea, and would make for some very varied results.

Sounds cool, especially since I very recently did this (http://mywebpages.comcast.net/artbybrian/forumsketches/BAL_BornOfAnger.jpg) myself ;)

(based loosely on Fozzy's song "Born Of Anger"...best place I can think of to listen to it is at http://www.myspace.com/fozzytour )

Would we be each drawing to our own song or collectively sketching a single song. Either way sounds cool to me. I think a good idea would be to use Amazon dot com's 30 second song samples, as long as that's legal. Antonio Carlos Jobim - Wave (http://www.amazon.com/gp/music/wma-pop-up/B000002G6J001001/ref=mu_sam_wma_001_001/102-7960173-9462523). It is easier for someone to listen to if the clip is short. Just my opinion.

Edit: Hmmm, maybe that won't work. It wouldn't load in firefox the way it does off Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000002G6J/sr=1-7/qid=1147274566/ref=sr_1_7/102-7960173-9462523?%5Fencoding=UTF8)'s website. I found the clip, Wave (mms://mms.content.loudeye.com/600111/p/011/57/14/0115714_0101_00_0690.wma), but I had to dig through some source code. So, I guess you could just link to amazon's page or scrap my idea entirely.

This sounds like a great idea! I can see the "legal" part being a challenge, guess we'll see how it goes.

Another alternative to consider is WinAmp's "Winamp Music" category in the Media Library. They have a really huge number of artists. Just a couple of songs from each, but it's completely free (or was when I downloaded version 5) and really easy to use.

I like this song A LOT ....
Trust me on this one...

It is called
Lyrics by Nick Hornby's (writer of About a Boy)

"That's me Trying (http://webjay.org/iteminfo/11780786/d3b57539e4c6ada4d294206ddb73dcb6) " (link)

It is about a dad coming back to the life of his daughter 20 years later...

That's Me Trying
Featuring: Aimee Mann and Ben Folds

I got your address from the phone book at the library
Wandered in, looked you up and you were there
Weird that you've been living, maybe, 2 miles away for the best part of 20 years
You must be, what, in your early forties now
If I remember,
You were born in June or was it May?
Eisenhower was the president although it may have been JFK

Years of silence
Not enough who could blame us giving up?
Above the quiet there's a buzz
That's me trying

You still working in that store on ventura?
You still going with--no, that's not fair
I know I haven't been the very best of dads
I'll hold my hand up there
The reason that I'm writing is that i'd like for us to meet
Get a little daughter dad action going soon
We can put things behind us
Eat some pizza, drink some beer
You still see your sister Lemli?
Bring her, too

Years of silence, not enough
Who could blame us giving up?
Above the quiet there's a buzz
That's me trying

But I don't want to talk about any of that bad stuff
Why I missed out on your wedding and your high school graduation
I'd like to explain, but I can't
So let's keep things neutral
Stick to topics that won't bug us

How 'bout this?
Let's choose a book and we'll read it before we meet
Then we can sit down at a restaurant
Have a look at the menu and talk about it while we eat
See, if we never had a problem
Then that's what life would be like
Easy
Uncomplicated
Cool

So let's just pretend that the past didn't happen
I don't really like thriller as well.
I don't want to know if I've got grandchildren
no need to tell me where I went wrong
I don't want to know what happened in your thirties
You wanna try 'cold mountain'?
Or is that too long??

Years of silence, not enough
Who could blame us giving up?
Above the quiet there's a buzz
That's me trying
I'm trying
