Hi all!

Got some inspiration back and I have started on the Cenobite - Chatterer from the Hellraiser movies.

Base Mesh - Blender:

And doing some detail work/sculting with the new Open Source app Sharpconstruct. Here is my progress so far on that end:

Have to define the lips some more and lots more detail work to come.

Any C&C is greatly appreciated.

i love hellraiser! i haven't seen it in a long time. I don't remember what chatterer looks like. I thought his name was chatterbox....oh well. It would be nice if you could put up a reference, for those who don't know of the movie...is there people who never seen hellraiser? and if you could put some wires up too, that would be nice.

Thanks CrazyApe.

Here is a reference that I am working from:

That is one of the references of many that I have found online.

I'll get you a wire with the next post.

Thanks again.

I think you could use alittle more definition around the eye area.... And dont forget the little hooks and wires...

slangford: Thanks for that ref image. I hadn't seen that one yet. And you bet the wires and hooks will be there. No worries.

It looks lumpy now bg. The eyes need to be defined more. The bumps and craters of his face also seem to begin from his stretched open mouth. The upper lip of your character is too thick, it needs to be thined out, its a stretched area. Also the head is not symmetric and there are differences on both sides. So your going to have to turn off that mirror or x axis symmetry tool. ;-)

Here is a render, with very crappy lighting. Have to fix that up.

Going to start on the top portion of his leather clothes and take that to Sharpconstruct for some detail work too. Then onto UV mapping and the rest of the texture work.

womball: Shouldn't be so lumpy looking now. I know what you were saying there. Thinned out the top lip too. Looks much better.

Another small update:

Neck looks a bit thin, so I will widen it up some.

Anything else look off?

I cant really tell because of the lighting.... but he still looks a bit lumpy. When you see him in the movies... you can recognize the facial features. But your model looks lumpy and kinda swollen.

OK, started texturing this guy. Very early and rough stages. Just more of a test to make sure the UV's are ok than anything here right now:

Lots of work yet to do on the textures.

slangford: Thanks. Hopefully it doesn't looks so bumpy/lumpy now with this render? I know it's not the whole head, but it does look better I think.

Some more work:

Some errors on the UV's around the neck to fix up.

Anyone have anything to say?

Hello BgDM

As an avid Hellraiser fan, let me congratulate you on your work, that Chatterer is sterling work! It looked funny to begin with, but after proper texturing, shading and lighting, it looks amazing.

I'm not a 3D professional, but I definitely know my Hellraiser, having been a collector for over 15 years, and you've hit the nail (pun?) on that one. Now all you need is some slight work on the neck, and to put in the wires pulling back the cut lips, around his head, and hooked to the back.

If you'd like I can post some images from the movies, and existing life-size models to guide you... that is if the moderators think I'm not breaking any rule.

I'd also like to ask you if, when this is over and done, I may post this on Hellraiser Gallery (http://www.hellraisergallery.blogspot.com) with the proper credits and link to your site.

Still going at this one. Here is the latest test render:

http://bgdm.katorlegaz.com/Chatterer/image_017.jpg

Just stared the leather texture work on the clothes. Lots to do and fix there yet. Also need to play with some more specularity around the gums and stuff too.

antipax: Thanks. I have a lot of ref images from the web already, so I should be good with that. Thanks for the offer though. And when it is done, please feel free to post it in your forum. No worries with that at all.

Hello BgDM

Hope I don't get in trouble for bringing this topic back, but I just wanted to know if there are any updates on this piece. It was looking top-notch.

Cheers
