View Full Version : Creature Animation: Any Crits?

This is an animation of some kind of gargoyle...beast...creature thingy. I started a couple days ago and this is what I have so far. I haven't started animating the tail yet. Any crits would be much apperciated.
If anyone cares to take a look here's another run cycle I did.

Creature walk is cool, I especially like the end part. The tail doesn't move as much as I would have expected, in fact it looks very static. The toes in the walk cycle look as if they bend backwards too much when the foot is moving forward. Good motion in the shoulders, and nice timings on the run and the climb.
The bug guy animation is nice too. I would perhaps pause the camera after it zooms into the closeup, just to give this dramatic guy a chance to pose :D for the camera. The pause before he leaps off the building is a little too long, just a couple of frames. The camera shake at the end is a little over the top for my taste, but it works okay. The antennas bounce a little too much after he lands. The start of the run is a little shakey, but it happens too fast for me to really get a handle on it. Maybe swing the arms more? Looks like his feet do something funny at the start of the run.

One thing I see that you're doing wrong on the gargoyle is that you are having him walk in a heel-toe fashion while in fact animals that have such a leg configuration walk in a tip-toe fashion as their heels and ankles like your gargoyle are often confused for reverse knees. Another thing I noticed is that there are weight issues in the walk and the trot and when he lands from the two wall jumps. Good work overall tho.
