Hi all,
Thought i'd try the soccer ball tutorial for Modo and then render the object in Maya, but I seem to be getting a strange result...

The ball is all triangulated...?

Can anybody tell me what's happening please?

Thanks,

It appears to be a normal problem. Have you tried softening the normals in Maya, I believe its under the Edit Polygon menu.

Oh my god, I hope it isn't as simple as that. That's the last thing i'd have thought of considering i had a lot of problems with the normals on another model....

Here's hoping i'm not as daft as I look...

Thanks sacslacker..

Hey sacslacker,
You were right, i'm an idiot, it was the weights. I feel so dumb but it looks fine now.

Thanks again.

Not a problem. I wouldn't call yourself an idiot either. It seems that at times, the simpler solutions are the hardest to come by. Often times it takes a second pair of eyes to give ya a nudge.

I could tell you about a time that I spent an hour modifying a script and not seeing the changes I made, I tried everything. It took a buddy of mine coming over to say "dude are you sure you're modifying the right file?"

I could tell you about that yes, but it's too embarassing! Ha!
