I have a question about something I've always had problems with. When setting up a character, either 2 legged or 4, do you make a "character" null which you can use to move the whole character? I don't just mean move, but turn also? Like when you want to animate a character turning around, you have to turn the hips, then each foot. Do you use a null to turn everything? I've tried it once but it was hard to keep the feet locked to the ground because their parent space kept moving, which also gave strange f curves.

It's good to have a root node that allows you to position the entire character in a scene, but this should only be used for the initial placement of the character. Beyond that, it's best to leave it where it is when you animate the character (i.e., you wouldn't rotate it to do a character turn).
