CGTalk - The King of Clubs

Michel of Twincruiser: One of these days, for some reason, I became very interested in playing cards and their history. I had the urge to make one myself. After some research on the net and some extensive reading, the concept of the card that struck me most was the King of Clubs. I found out that the King of Clubs is actually the king of thieves, rogues and brigands. This fact inspired me to do this piece. To me a king of thieves does not wear a crown on his head since his position is a secret and seclusive one. Instead he wears an amulet beneath his cloak to prove his power. The amulet has the form of a loaf of bread or a cake symbolizing his petty criminal activities (the beginning of every great crime lord). Also he carries with him a club which in Medieval times stood for the murderer or the deceiver.

Thats cool Michael you'll have to post the rest of the deck as you do them. Oh and thanks for the Photoshop tutorials on your site the texturing one helped me alot. :beer:

Hey all, thanks for the kind comments. Hmmm..a whole deck?? We have to think about that...it's a awful lot of work. I mean...3 court cards (King, Queen, Jack) X 4 is a lot man. And then we have to make the other cards and then we have to design the back of the cards :surprised: That's a lot!!! A well, perhaps there's a small chance we'll do another one...maybe we'll do the Joker :cool:
