View Full Version : location: final fantasy inspired airship
Solesurvivor 01-05-2003, 09:41 PM i have to model something for school in max, an assignment.
It's an airship from FF9. I know it can't come even close to the original, but you gotta start somewhere...

you're a famous pop star!!! Bloody Hell EVERYONE COME ON IN QUICK....
Actually there isn't much to say. I'd make a comment if it were more finished or if you were looking for any specific kind of help.
Just curious, doesn't your class require you to make something of your own? I taught a class, and creativity was an important thing we focused on.
As for comments on your ship. The scale on some of the objects seem a little off... i'd half to wait for more to see where its going.
good luck... btw what school

yess , i got recognition i'm a pop star, at last ;)
you're right about the scale, i used a dummi character too late in the modelling process, but i'm gonna fix that asap.
Our class just said, make a 3d location, but as we get only 2hours of 3d in a week, they can't except from us to invent something completely new and then model it. I'm in the same class as Joril btw, the last year of Multimedia and Communication Technologies in Belgium, Kortrijk to be specific...
I'm gonna model some more on it , and make sure the proportions are okay, then i'm gonna start texturing...
Thnx for the comments

it's probably the same school you found :) and indeed, it is very very basic... and lot's of other courses that are very very boring, glad it's almost over..
But excactly what balcony's are you talking about, those on the side of the ship?
cheers

I'd love to see some more detail on the sides of the ship hull.. at the moment it's just a flat plane, beside being kinda boring, it also will be hard to get some nice shadowplay on there... why not let it bulge out a bit more (bottom sharp, top bulging, or top straight, bottom bulging... your call.. it's an airship, so whether it'll float is not important ;) )

hey, thnx for the advice, i'll take it into consideration, but there's a litle part on the centrepart of the ship that i still have to make, and that's gonna hang on the sides , so you'll have a bit more detail then, and maybe i'm gonna put some windows on the sides as well...
thnx for the comment

look quite interesting, I guess since its fantasy it means it shouldn't look functional,, hehe,, never seen the game,, I'm outa the loop on games,, hehe
I like them glowing windows,, is that Volumetric used there?
What software?
keep going looks like its going to be texture madness.
I'm sure getting tired of this overloaded forum...

Software is 3dsmax 5, and it's my first attempt at volumetric lighting
as for the texturing, that will also be my first attempt at it, but the lights went pretty well, so with the proper attention to textures should work also
thnx for the comments EighthDecay and wonder:thumbsup:
