I know you did a tutorial to try and show how you work -- but it still remains a mystery to me - and the results are continuously fantastic.
I would find it so satisfying to be able to paint so quickly stuff from your imagination -- I really wish I could learn this method, but it evades me, I just don't even know where to begin.
Your handling of light is particularly strong, and I enjoy all your work here. :)

Runecaster:thanks mate :)

Another breathtaking piece my friend. I enjoy watching your scenes since I always refer them to F.E.A.R for some weird kind (I guess its the sharpness also the futuristic mechs/soldiers).
Any chance to get your 135MB video again? The links are all broken due timeouts....
edit: Oh and any chance to see some brushing settings of your speedpaint tut? Its quite difficult for beginners to recognize with which settings to begin :)

Hey Levi.. nice to c u updating ur thread wid new and inspiring work  Hey i was jus thinkin of sumthin.. can i suggest a concept to u? I think you can bring it to colours very beautifully.. let me know hw it sounds ... an ant's eye view of an ancient underground city in a deep cavern with day light pouring in from the top..
12-07-2006, 07:38 PM
The busted glass looks great
great work here!! Damn.. quite few things to learn from...
Just one question - if i might ask... :)
how can you get a texture like the one you're useing for the floon on your last image? I mean.... i'm shure you were not spending all the time you have drawing that net... But how do you do it? Are you useing a texture on your brush and the rest is just lighting with overlay or hard light or something??
I'm very curious.... If you can answear my silly question i'll be forever grateful! :P :D
cheers!! Keep up the top work!
12-09-2006, 11:44 PM
Icey:thanks, for the grate i use a brush that looks like an "x", and i adjust the spacing in that brush if i want it loose or more solid.
hotsparx:cool idea :P
thanks all once again.
Wow.. I got no idea to say.
Flipping through the pages, my head has filled up with all sorts of stuff.
Amazing.. Pure amazing.
I love how you handle the light.
Your are extreamly good at capture the moment (atlest in my point of view) which really makes the pictures become alive.
Sorry for no critics, but I can't find anything to pick on.
Keep up the good work:thumbsup:

Thats badass. Love the colors and every stroke seems to be on the right place :)

01-09-2007, 01:55 AM
Sweet composition. I like how everything is extreme horizontal or vertical except for the curvature of the dangling chains. It's provides an appealing contrast. :)
01-09-2007, 03:45 AM
I agree with Daniel it's a rad composition! Love the look of the floor/ground, is it covered in water? How long did this one take you SR? Top work!
01-09-2007, 08:20 AM
Wow, really nice speedpaints man! Great lighting and color!
01-09-2007, 09:24 AM
Plus the bluish appeal except the red touch. Oh yes man, this pic rocks.

awesome thread all and all,i like the crisp looking edge in all ur speedies.looking forward to see those latest stuffs u post in colors:thumbsup:
I have absolutely no idea how you come up with such diversity of characters. And they all have different but explicit characteristics!
Splendid! I agree with Serena :)
01-10-2007, 09:30 AM
those drawings look awesome, the angel and the butcher are my favorite. is there a single brush that you use? or is it more than one? if so which one?
sorry, just trying to learn.
love your thread.s
01-10-2007, 11:40 PM
thanks you so much :bounce:
01-11-2007, 09:50 AM
Oh yes man ! This rocks ! Incredible depth, great color usage and a well defined subject !
Yes, yes, yes !
Post it in 2D gallery !
01-11-2007, 11:10 AM
Simply stunning work. You really give me motivation to paint, thanks a lot :)
In this last piece (which is really really great) I wonder if the soldier's pose wouldn't be more dynamic if his right leg was positioned backwards, a few moments before where the leg is right now, right after he lifted his right foot from the ground.
just thinking out loud here...
01-11-2007, 11:26 AM
CyborgJA: thanks Serena, more will come :scream:
Xdreamer79: thank you, i am glad i can inspire
NR43: thanks, the pose is an extreme one, and its not reffed, so i know i need to train more on how to draw figures with more natural pose.

LOVE your winter stuff always, so cold feeling, crisp - excellent!
01-14-2007, 05:34 PM
Great composition and great color "touch" but I find the prev one more interesting, especially for the use of diagonals.

Yes...but...where are all the BEAUTIFUL characters you sketched ?
I want them in colorrrr ;cry;
01-16-2007, 11:50 AM
serena:yes patience my friend, it will come :)
Hey! Someone probably asked you this before, but since this thread is reaching enormous proportions, I hope you'll pardon me: how do you create those perfect shapes - circles, elipses, lines etc? Do you simply use the marquee tools in Photoshop, or do you have some secret technique? My shapes get all wobbly :(
And as always: awesome speedpaints - you're such an inspiration!
01-17-2007, 10:05 AM
Awesome work man. Keep em commin!
01-18-2007, 12:29 AM
Gmax:hehe thanks, forthe bigger shapes i use the markee, other i use the hardedgedbrush. For some shapes its more effective creating a custom brush. The chain for instance.
Thanks for sharing your wisdom, O master of speedpaints and all things good :)
01-18-2007, 08:53 AM
Whaaaa, beautiful image SR :)
01-18-2007, 09:40 AM

01-19-2007, 11:22 PM

more on the WIP
01-23-2007, 05:36 PM
hey levi :)
i somehow missed your thread, heh maybe thats because i only looked in the anatomy thread for a whole while.
nice progress on your wip here, but ive got some assumptions to make. her right hand is a tad too big i think. there is something else but i need to think about it first and get me something to eat now to be able to do that ;)
01-24-2007, 10:42 PM
thx lyanna, yeah i know, i will work that
now, dsg image, hurry hurry , 55mins
01-25-2007, 07:54 PM
dsg entry for boudica
01-25-2007, 10:23 PM
You have some great stuff. Great sense of lighting and shade. Excellent use of color and strong compostion through your pieces. Would be nice though to see you work the background elements more in the pieces that have a character in the foreground.
01-25-2007, 10:48 PM
Man, every piece is stunning.
The lighting, colors and comps are all amazing.
Great stuff as always, but I'm not sure how well the light/shadow effect reads the character's anatomy in the last piece. The hightlight on her belly and chest just seems a little too random. But the colour palette is simply amazing!
01-26-2007, 09:33 AM
It has been quite a pleasure going through your sketch thread :) I'll have to keep checking for updates , beautiful work
01-30-2007, 09:57 PM

trying some brushes, 2-3h
01-31-2007, 01:46 AM
Ummm, I think you should keep those brushes :) Wonderful piece...one of my favorite of yours.
yup i agree with dh, one of your best :D
01-31-2007, 11:22 AM
I think that too.
This last piece has got a beautiful balance. I find it both interesting and relaxing. Don't know how to explain.
02-02-2007, 09:47 PM
i am making some new brushes, trying them out
02-03-2007, 09:55 AM
<<< Good one SR ill group with others and say that the last ones are great ...dunno if its the brushes but they have become rather emotional and moody...i really like the last one especially how the hot air comig out from the guards mouth is creating mood and emotion...cold and wet jet not so depressig... anyways just wanted to say that befor u had great disdinct style...now its becoming emotional too wich is a great thing...
02-05-2007, 09:45 PM

03-01-2007, 11:51 AM
Mmm are you painting these sketches right to enjoy or are you observing a 'plan' in order to complete a project? Cause sometimes I'm really unable to understand the logic link between your pictures :bounce:
