Title: Great White Shark
Name: Georg Kaltenbrunner
Country: USA
Software: Maya, mental ray, Photoshop, Shake, ZBrush

This one started as a test if the shark was ready for an upcoming animation. I liked the outcome that much that I thought i could share it here.

Great job! It looks kinda like it is in a sharky bind-pose though. Maybe you can give it a more dynamic pose with some motion bluring to show swimming action? You never really see a shark still like that.

Compositing looks good, but the shark seems to be missing its gills. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Looks great!

but Jedi is right, there should be 5 gills slits to the north west of the left (pectoral) fin and does the eye look wrong to anybody? It looks like there is pupil there? Shouldn't it be plain black?

Well seems a great white terror around here....it only sounds strange to me the snake pupil since the shark's one is completely black.....anyway, it's really beautiful. :)

Hi... first of all thanks for all the comments I really appreciate it!

@Shagpuss, Jedi-Juice: Gills are there... they get kinda lost with that lighting. Maybe I should have pronounced them more?

@B3AND1P: Agree, but it is not the bindpose :) Tail, Head and fins are slightly bend.

@30mm: You are right about the eyes. Though they are not snake eyes (they are from another shark) they should be alot darker (if not black) depends on the lighting... I kinda drifted away from my references at one point just to make it a scary looking mean shark.

cheers

Thats a pissed off looking shark, its quite possible that its even more pissed off than this little guy. Five stars from me, great job. http://www.kzoo.edu/pfolio/example/weigandt/computer3_cat.jpg

Yeah, I figured they were there...just difficult to see. Great job, nonetheless.

Btw, I noticed that you work for SolFX. Does Brian Bullock still work there? I was a student of his back at Columbia College. Tell him I send him a shout-out.

Holla!! :D

when great whites are just cruisn' the teeth are not that visible, they retract.

looks really nice!! the overall look is great - the only thing is the pose - it was mentioned before i beliefe - now he looks a little bit like "ausgestopft" (stuffed out? dont know the word in english) - but you will animate it right? so i am looking forward to see this beast moving... do you think of adding a baywatch chic to the animation too??

i also would like to see a before/after image - to see whats done in shake and whats 3d... pleeeeeeeeease!

again great job - 5 stars!
