Hi,

When I try to do lipsync in Maya,I don't know when a certain word starts and when it ends.If I scrub through the timeline to look for the begin or the end of a word I get very noisy and bad sound.Only if I do a playblast or hit play on the timeline I get decent sound. But the sound/speech goes very fast,so I don't know at what frame the word starts and ends.So I have to spend alot of time to find the right frames etc...Any recommendations on how to do this easier?

One option is to make an xsheet and use it to determine where the frames need to go instead of relying on the timeline/scrubbing.

You'd want to use an audio program that displays the frame number along with the wave file. Soundforge, pro tools, etc. Probably some free programs that'd work.

Yeah, thatīs the classic professional way. Sit down and really get into your audioīs timing. This takes a bit of time, but itīs worth in the end.

If you are wondering, what an x-sheet is, hereīs one:
