When using the spolit poly tool, how do I split the polys along the length of the object at once rather than on poly at a time? I've done it before but cannot remember what the trick is.

You can use EdgeLoopSplit in MJPolyTools. Theres another way to do it using marking menus in Maya7

Nape,

Select the faces you want to split and use the cut faces tool: edit polygons/cut faces tool.

Nape,

That is, if you are using Maya.

Maya7 has a SplitEdgeRingTool that works like MJpolytools, but is better written, it allows you to slide along the face before you place the line so it's exactly where you want it. I love that tool.

If you need symmetry you can also use Modeling > Edit Polygons > Duplicate Edge Loop Tool or for a single cut you can use the Modeling > Edit Polygons > Split Edge Loop Tool. They are very useful tools.

I forgot, I think both tools are exclusive from Maya 7.0.

is there a maya 7 version of the old byrons poly tool that sean mills used in his creature dvd? or are those tools a part of maya 7 now?

ok...so i applied myself and realized that byrons tools are part of the maya 7 interface....that is amazing. i bet byron is a wealthy man right now...well, maybe not wealthy, but paid none the less. at least i hope he is. otherwise its depressing.
