AniMo 05-05-2006, 03:39 PM hi, i wonder how to use a text as emitter source for a paticle flame animation ?
this should be basic stuff but i cant find any option in combustion.
is there a workaround ?

To my knowledge the only way to do this is to trace your writing with a line emitter for each letter.
Or if it doesn't need to be very exact, and/or the text is very small, an area emitter should suffice.
If you need your particles to be very complex or accurate, I would recommend just using a 3d app, you'll spend less time and probably get better results. Especially if you're wanting to deal with thousands or millions of particles. It sounds like you might benefit from a pixel value based particle generator, something you won't find in combustion.
Edit: I rummaged around through my bookmarks and undug this old CreativeCow tutorial. Might give you a nice starting off point.
