View Full Version : New Polymodeling Car Tutorial
karabo 01-05-2003, 10:29 AM I have just uploaded part of my new polymodeling car tutorial to my website. Please check it out and tell me what you think of it. I still have a lot of work to do on it so only the first 15 pages are functional for now.

very detailed tutorial, extremely helpful.
Just one suggestion, Im on a dialup connexion so I cant ollow all the steps while im online, and there are far too many pages to save, Id suggest chunking the information onto no more than 5pages, it would really help =]
edit:pages 17-20 dont exist

didn't go though it all, but it look pretty solid and well documented. Good work. I also though that there were too many pages... just my opinion.

It looks good. I like it that you took a fiat 500, it reminds me to my first car (500L)
The only thing I miss are the pages 17 to 20
Good work:thumbsup:

I'm sorry it is so long, I'm trying to make it as detailed as possible. If I tried to squezze it all on 5 pages, the images would take ages to load. There is a whole lot of images and I don't want to bog down the pages with too many images. I actually spilt it into many pages to make it easier for people on slower connections.
The tutorial is not finished yet so that's why there are no more pages after page 15. When it's all done, I will zip all the files so you can download them and work on them from your computer without being connected to the internet.

THANK YOU!
I am doing the tutorial right now...Stopped to say thanks. I have been trying to model a car for some time now and never could find a tutorial that "worked" for me. I'm up to page 10 now....it's coming along nicely. Again, I want to sincerely thank you for taking the time to do this, and let you know it helped someone!

Karabo,
I took a screenshot of where I was with the tutorial, but cant get it small enough to post here. I started getting brave and decided to venture out away from the tutorial and just use it as information and model my own. Here's what I have thus far. I know it's not much, but believe me, if you had seen some of my other attampts at modelling a car...you would see a HUGE improvement!
Again a monsterous thank you! I will keep on with my car and keep checking back at your site for updates. When you get the tutorial in a .pdf or somthing I will download it and keep if for reference.
Take care!

Karabo, I cant seem to get back to this tutorial. It keeps giving me the message "Banwidth limit exceeded". Have you finished the .pdf of the tutorial and possibly could email it to me. Or is there another site where the tut is located?
Thanks for your help.

if you'd like me to I could mirror it for a little while as it seems you're having bandwidth problems.. :) dunno how long I'll be able to mirror it though as I may exceed my bandwidth limit too ;)
mail me if you'd like me to mirror it for a little while: lindset@webpixels.net

that would be great! I don't even know what the hell it means to have exceeded your bandwidth limit. Is it because so many people have been going to the site? What a crappy server.

you're too popular, your bandwith is exceeded
I believe that we have got it that his site has exceeded its bandwidth limit, so we don't have to repeat it again!
Okay. So, is the tutorial going anywhere? I mean is it finished? Are you going to host it somewhere else?
The reason I'm asking so many questions is that I have waited a normal car modeling tutorial and now that it's here, we can't get to it.

ok the car modeling tut is back online at my mirror site. It's still not finished because I've been in the process of moving to a different country and my computer is still being shipped and also because I've been busy trying to fix the whole bandwidth thing. Anyway, this is the new address:
http://www.dutch-gamers.nl/~karabo/tutorials/car/index.html
The one at KaraboCentral will still be available as soon as the bandwidth error goes away at the end of this month.
Sorry for the delay!!
