Title: Electric Blue
Name: Matt Smith
Country: United Kingdom
Software: (Other), Photoshop, Poser

This was probably (subconsciously) inspired by the snake dancer in Blade Runner, glossed up, sexed up, and blued up! Credit to Stonemason's floor from Sector 15, which is now a wall. Rendered using 3Delight, postwork in Photoshop.

The face is amazing! I am not a huge fan of the ret of the body though. Maybe its the pose. Great modeling and feel of the piece!

I'm going to echo an earlier comment: the face is amazing.

I don't care for the low poly artifacts on the legs/arms and there's something not right with the hands. Just work with more polys for an image like this.

Good job on the face though, really nice.

what bothers me a bit that these are all poser stock models incl. the snake.
At least imo one should mention this since almost all of the renders here are made
with selfmade models.

Ooh, let me settle this once and for all as I have had a few comments stating the obvious. Yes I have used stock models, but the fun part is creating something original with morphs, pose, lighting, concept, texturing, colouring. This I think deserves to be recognised. And since it is 3D content, it desrves to be in the 3D gallery. When did the 3D World become so elitist!?

Poser/DAZ has provided me the opportunity to partake in the 3D environment with no prior knowledge, no training - all of it was self taught - unlike some who had the opportunity to study at college - who get to spend months on one project, whereas I have spent sleepless nights to make these images possible - and hold a full time job.

I now have a need to expand on the knowledge acquired, and have started teaching myself to model in Hexagon 2 - but I really shouldn't have to justify myself to all those modelling elitists out there. There's nothing wrong with using stock models, and there certainly shouldn't be snobbery on this site!

Way to jump the gun Shim. He just politely suggested you to state the facts, since now most visitors will assume it's all yours from scratch. Not all people recognize poser models. Also i think most 3D modellers are self-taught, since there's not many schools in the field.

Now, there's this tension between poser users who've just found 3D and the rest of the community, that's understandable no matter how you look at it, and you most likely understand why. Personally i don't really care if it's poser or not, BUT if you're not sincere with your references, it's making it hard for people to comment at all, since they can't tell what you actually did on the piece.

This community is very accepting and nice, so it's not very nice of you to call people elitist snobs out of the blue.

Anyway, enough with the babble and onto your piece. It's an allright picture, but here's some suggestions: It seems like the hair and the snake aren't casting any shadows which kinda breaks apart the whole picture. Also you could try and break the monochrome by adding a (non blue :P) rim-light. And finally one thing that would probably make the feel of the picture drastically different, would be to counter contrasting borders starting from the light direction, with a darker BG behind the area where light is cast and a lighter bg where the chicks' body starts to disappear in shadow.

Anyway, for most of us makig 3D is a fun sport, so please have a fun time learning.

I do apologise for anyone who has been offended by my remarks, I never intended to cause any tension between Poser users and the rest of the community! And although I used the words elitist and snobbery, I never intended to call anyone an elitist snob! Personally I have faced some prejudices being a Poser/Daz user, and was probably a little defensive, as I am so familiar with 'that' tone. I haven't necessarily been insincere with my reference, Poser is stated as my software - and never claimed that I modelled the piece. Anyhoo, must let it lie before it becomes one of those horrible debates that should never have happened.

Many thanks for your critique, though I purposely left out any shadow casts as I wanted more of a 'fashion magazine' approach. I agree that the monochrome should be broken down a bit - I started doing this with bringing out the fleshy pink tones on the female skin, but perhaps it's not prominent enough.

Am having fun modelling at the moment, though I've now reached the part where I get to spend hours modelling an ear! Any tips?
