I use Poser and Cinema 4d to support Vue. For the most part, I bring things into Vue, and from there do everything in Vue including rendering.

mwalter1, so you take all your 3d models into vue and render in vue? even city landscapes? can it handle the enormous amount of geometry? thanks for replying.

vue handles quite alot of polys pretty good, but if itīs an issue for you, you can always sync or composite or if youīre using 3dsmax/maya use xStream (betas are in development for c4d and lw)
whatīs your main app?

i use Alias Maya7. Whats xStream? if i may ask. sounds cool. i have a shot where in i have to place some ruins on a cliff. and what i did was create the scene in vue. then exported the env as obj. then imported that to maya. renders looked very different. the env looked better in vue. so im gonna try just importing all my polys to vue. and render from there. thanks guys!

Using Vue 5 Infinite and eco systems I can render scenes with huge amount of polygons. Vue Xtream looks promising, but it is still in the beta stage, so it may/may not work.

I use Max myself, and was wondering when you export an object from Vue how do you maintain its materials? Or can you? Or do I just use the geometry and reapply Max materials? Also If i decide to render my final scene in Vue and want to maintain the materials from Max will Vue "see" my Max materials. Hope that made sense. Kinda new too this.
Thank You.

well xstream is still buggy so the monkey is spot on there :P and its very much still in development so im not surprised that is has issues to iron out.
there are pre release versions for all the big 4 out now and xstream has matured alittle since the initial release for max and maya but it will of course get better, anyway some people as always seems to have more luck with it then others so try the trial for yourself itīs available on www.e-onsoftware.com

you can still do the old: render vue image, export terrain, import terrain into 3D program, camera match... and go.
