This is my first time in a long time posting something on here, so here it goes.

The concept (http://www.joemadfan.com/plugins/p17_image_gallery/images/370.jpg) is one of Joe Mad (http://www.joemadfan.com/)’s sketches he did for a game. This is an awesome combo of two of my favorite things to make… Big armor and Girls! To bad I have not made either for a long time. I am shooting for the 4-5k range and I am going to con one of my friends into doing some animations for me. I can use all the feedback I can get.

anything by Joe Mad! gets my undivided attention and ur model is looking great so far. Im loving ur mesh although she's gonna have to do a whole hell of a lot of squats if her butt is gonna do the concept justice:thumbsup:

looking good, I'd think about adding another loop in the loincloth. in case you're going to animate it it might stick out a bit being so static.

are you going to texture it? and if yes, realistically or more in a comic style?

hey dude the horns look awesome, and most of the details look right, but he looks a little bit skinny and anemic compared to the concept - joe's ladies tend to be round and a little muscly, yours seems to be cut more from the super-model mold, especially with the spacing between the breasts and the thinner arms. I'd just give it another pass and see if you can't bulk her up just a bit - bulkier models look better in 3d anyways!

Hey thanks everyone. I have tried to bulk her up some, especially in the shoulders along with making the legs slightly longer bellow the knee (was not thinking about the high heals). I think I may need to shrink her rib cage, the concept kind of looks like she has a smaller upper body (with DD breasts) under all the armor. Any more thoughts on the proportions my eye for that is still a bit untrained.

For the textures I was feeling inspired by some of the stuff in the last two Prince of Persians, but in truth I am always looking at b1ll’s work for inspiration. I not sure what colors I want to use though the only real thought is I would like to give her pail skin beyond that who knows.

I will post some new wires after I give the helmet some love.

cool model

This could look really nice with a good texture on it.

your link to the mad pic isn't working for me, buuut
just knowing his style, the waist should be almost non-existant and the breasts should be ridiculously huge.

that link is still busted for some reason.
just go to his site, its on the frontpage on the right, on the right, 2nd from below ;)

as for crits, shes looking great, only comment i've got is that she might be a little too wide for my taste, the thighs and shoulders especially.

Nice so far. I agree on the flat butt comment and extra edge loop on the loin cloth.

I have given the helmet some love still need to do the hair thing… that is right after I figure out the best way to do it. Also notice that I took another pass at her proportions. Took in her hips a little mostly tried to separate what is the curve of her body and what is the armor on top. I did not want to bring the shoulders though Tweek. I got this major football pad thing from the concept, even looks lager up there with the helmet. But for all the butt comments baby’s now got back:) (I hope).

I am going to move on and make the swords tonight and do some more clean up stuff, if I have time I may try and through a test rig to see if there are any problem areas.

hey man awesome progress! her nose and eyes don't look quite right to me yet, especially the nose - it looks round and buttony, joe mad's noses tend to be sharper/more distinct/anime style. looks friggin sweet otherwise, can't wait to see some texture on there...

I have just finished UV the head and decided to through down some texture. I think I will spend some more time on the face before I UV the rest of the body.

E3 is over so I guess I no longer have an excuse not to finish this thing. I think I have overall look of the skin the way I like it. So much so I think I will have to make it so the helmet can come off. For the armor I am trying for a bronze-ish metal with gold banding. I don’t know haw well the bronze is coming of right now but I think it will read better when I have the spec. Oh and everything is 100% self illumination. I try to make everything read well even under no lighting.

I think I have the overall lighting the way I wont it on the armor. Still have some more to do before I work on adding spec and ware and tear. I kind of like the red makes me think of Warhammer Chaos.

I think it looks really good so far, but I think the shoulders are a bit too wide for a female.

hmm

I think the colors are looking too 'heroic' and 'regal' to be 'shadow armor'....

Rough black iron would suit her better

coming along nicely. I definitly like the red/gold a lot better than brass/gold, but I have to agree that it looks a bit to 'good' for a shadow armor. you might want to try either going a bit darker with it or desaturating it. I like the face texture, though I myself would have added some more mascara around the eyes to make her a bit more grim looking.

are you going to do bump/normal maps? just out of curiosity...

...but I think the shoulders are a bit too wide for a female. I brought the shoulders in some with out changing her top pads size to much. I hop it looks better to you in my next post. I guess I was hopping the pads would hid any problems in the shoulders anatomy.

Rough black iron would suit her better...it looks a bit to 'good' for a shadow armor. you might want to try either going a bit darker with it or desaturating it. I have heard it called regal or majestic before I wonder why I can not seem to hit the mod on the armor. I will try the black Iron still reluctant about how rough I make it. I will try playing with the highlight good color too. Maybe something less other than gold would help.
I am also worried about what darkening it more would do especially when it is not 100% lit like it is now. You could tell me if I am worrying over nothing though.
are you going to do bump/normal maps? just out of curiosity... I am not planning on bump/normal or spec. This for me is much more about bringing up my ability to paint single channel texture. Sort of my opinion you need to know what you are doing there or you can have a tendency to go overboard with the multiple maps especially the bumps/normal.
I am planning on making HellGirl next and I am going to pull out all the next-gen bells and whistles.

hm, not sure. I"m not too experienced when it comes to virtually anything, but I I guess you'll just have to do some renders to try it out. depends a lot on the specular settings too, you might want to take a look into that as well - I think a really dramatic lighting would be great for this character, so you might get away with quite a lot of contrast in the armor (some very bright, some really dark, almost countour-like parts might be nice).

as for taking the gold out - might be a good idea. I normally don't comment too much on the coloring (it's your artwork after all, so I normally don't suggest big changes), but in case you need some inpiration just google for some warhammer fantasy galleries, I find those very inspiring when it come to doing slighty more crazy fantasy stuff.

only thing that looks off to me are the shoulders. they are too wide. they dont seem to belong to the torso. but I gess its a bit too late for that.

but this looks really good. the face is quite disturbing in a good way :D

I should be able to finish her textures up today. I need you guys to hold me to that. I need to paint some spec on everything, alphas, and clean up seams. I think I will also add some more ware and tear. I am not quite happy with the horns. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas one what they are missing.

looks a whole lot better now that you've darkened the armor up...
came out very nice
horns came out very nice as well,
the only thing that i would work on is her eyes, they don't give off that mean sinister look that the rest of her does.

Finished and weighing in at a whopping 4954tris the Shadow Armor Female. It took me way to long to rig this today; guess I am still not that good at using Character Studio. Now to just need to hand it off to one of my animator friends then the real magic begins.

I know have some nice renders of the finished model, well at least better than the screen grabs. There is still nothing on the animation front. My animator friend says he is going to finish setting up a ftp server for us to work from today.

since the colour scheme is similar to Paul David's Dark (http://souldesigns.cottages.polycount.com/portfolio2/dark_knight/dark_knight_01.jpg) Knight (http://souldesigns.cottages.polycount.com/portfolio2/dark_knight/dark_knight_03.jpg) model, i cant help but think that the black in the armour is too matte, and would benefit from more specular detail.

Even so, i saw the model and not the inbetweens, and it turned out very well on the texturing side.

Better do what anoon says.. he has a thing for chicks in armor :P

I think the end product looks hawt.. I think it could have looked HAWTER though! I see lots of wasted UV space - not directly wasted space, but wasted opportunity. A lot of areas on this model could easily have been mirrored and tiled.. dramatically increasing the res on the end product..

I better I think anoon may know me in real life, well if not him several people from Day: 1. They could beat me up next time I go down town.
I really just want to put this model to bead. There are some things I did with the armor that I just beat my head when it came to rigging this thing. (The sholder pads are attached to the collar, what was I thinking?)
I want to thank everyone for the help especially when I was trying to nail down the colors of the armor.

Very nice work.

I think, if you wanted to, you could easily make the normal map by using the layers you have with the Nvidia plugin. Apply the Photoshop layer effects like inner glow to make a proper elevation map then just convert it. But it's not needed of course, the painting job is very good:)
