Here is a little bit about myself. I am 19 years old, and I have always loved to draw. Up until recently, I just doodled while in school. Now I want to really learn how to draw. I started around April 24th on my first ever sketchbook following the Loomis books. I first started with his Successful Drawing book, but I won't show you those sketches. I have a basic understanding of perspective, but I really need to practice it now. I started the Figure Drawing (Loomis) book a couple of days ago and I am working with the figure right now. I am a bit below the skill level of most of the threads I have seen here, but I just want to learn. Any comments will definitely be taken into consideration, so don't be afraid of hurting my feelings. I'm not really used to drawing people. My main goal is to keep learning art throughout the rest of my life. I also want to be able to paint some mechs (robots) type concepts, so I thought I should probably start with perspective and anatomy. Anyway, here are my first few sketches. Thanks for your time!

Edit: Forgot to mention that I am planning on running through the workshops in this forum in the next couple of weeks.

I love how your posts have a lot of smileys. I checked out that thread, unfortunately I didn't have enough time to go through the whole thing so I didn't comment on it. His work looks really smooth and accurate. I wonder if he uses a compass to make circles? Hmm...so I am starting to use my trusty ruler to make things a little more accurate. I also found that I need to concentrate and think harder about what I am doing, where I am placing lines. All that I know is that I need to draw to get better...just pay attention to what I am drawing it and why. It's day 2 of the sketchbook, and I have learned heaps just from running through some quick figure draws. There is more that I learned about, but I just wanted scan these and get them put up on the thread, there are some "notes" in my drawings about what I learned. I think it helps reinforce my memory on what I learned when I write something down. Also, I can just look back through my sketches if I don't remember how i did something...sometimes. Anyway, thanks for the reply. I'll keep pluggin away.

Edit: I'm retardicated. I click on the Insert Image button (Mountains) when I'm posting, and insert the URL, but no images show up. What am I doing wrong?

Edit2: I didn't know i had to edit my posts to get the images to show up. :)

foogs,

Hey there, I do like a good smiley. :)

Lyneran's actually a she ;) but I know that the full thread is a lot to go through.

You can see a more condensed version of her thread here:

SPOTLIGHT: Best of the Personal Anatomy & Sketchbook Threads, K~O - Year 1 (http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=347123&highlight=lyneran)

The thread runs in alphabetical order, and is closed to posting, but you're always free to post on any threads outside of the SPOTLIGHT Forum. :)

One thing that will help make it easier to see your images is if you One thing that will help make it easier to see your images is if you copy and paste the URL of the images into the square yellow sun / mountain icon in the EDIT POST text editor. This will make your images visible as images instead of as links. :)

Keep going ~ and keep up the good work!

Cheers,

I was going to post my sketchbook tonight, but my car got towed away when I was helping a friend pack. So I had to walk to the tow place and get my car. Unfortunately while I was there I didn't pick up any decent art tips. But before the car got towed away I managed to get in a couple of quick studies. I'll post when I get back in a week or so along with everything I completed during the road trip. 28 mile road trips by the way. Pennsylvania to Montana.:bounce: It will be great fun just like it was driving here. Sorry for a crap update, keep your faith in me whoever my 54 viewers are!

Edit: 28 hour road trip. Not mile, I'm a little tired tonight. :)

I have no scanner or camera here in Montana, but I am still drawing. As soon as I get a good set up I'll post my progress. Sorry.
