View Full Version : Vehicle: Peugeot 406 Coupe
mihkeltt 01-04-2003, 11:55 PM There it is. My second attempt to create a car, this time the Peugeot 406 Coupe. I'm not planning to do the interrior, but the exterrior seems to be ready, not completely but I think I will not work on it anymore. Could have some more details , but still...
This one might differ from the real one a bit but i think i still cought the essence of Peugeot.
OK, here are some views...

Great model! I think perhaps the material lets it down a bit :surprised
what method? some wires? yes, the material could use a wee-bit of work..
nice!

what sort of modelling methods are there? i just created the body part by part, first the main structure, then the boot and the hood and the door. I've heard something about the boxmodelling and have some ide what it means but in this case it was not used. I did half the car and then mirrored it to the other side. Wireframes coming soon...
umm.. ok.. how long have you been doing 3d?

been doing 3d from the beginning of september. before that it was just cubes and spheres in 3dmax. after i discovered c4d xl r7, it was a totally new (but very interesting) world for me. Then i started to do 3d more seriously and now i've done some things already. the other works are at this location - www.hot.ee/miqpilt

ok im thinking you need to work on the texture a lot, atm it looks like rapping paper.. try get some ideas off other 3d cars you see on this board, some of them have got the right idea.
modeling wise it looks a little simple add more detail, everyone loves more detail here.

Oh NO!
Sorry man :scream: But that's not a 406.
I mean, not a exact copie...Do U have the blueprints? I have them...mail me.
The tail have to be more smooth. the headlights don't have the right shape...and so on.
Sorry, but I realy like the car... :p
ok finished.cya.

Isn't ir a little to low poly? Reflections needs more detail, or smth... P.S. Nice model :bounce:

yes PLEASE CHANGE THE MATERIAL. reflections are a bit nasty. fairly clean mesh though :D

ok, i added some detail and tried to work on the material, but without any good result. I was wondering, how to achive such a reflection, as used on the vw passat ( http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?threadid=33240 ). To Daniel: i know the model is not exactly like the real thing, but i seem to like this one more than the real one. Kinda vanquish look i've put into it, which i like. This has a more powerful look, not a slick elegant look.
I really need some help on the material. PS, i use C4D R8.

Hi!
even c4d v8 can produce relastic pictures, U just have to know how!
I used cinema4d years ago ;)
Hmmm, C4D v8 support Global Ilumation! So I guess the is also a HDRI Images support. Check the manual.
U can't get nice refletion without a nice enviroment. Like Light pannels, nice SkyDomes, good HDRI Images etc.
Cya.

If you are trying to achieve the "Studio look" which means very sharp reflections and a nice contrast (like th vw passat in this forum), then you should use luminous plates. Add a simple plane above the car and make it white and rise its luminosity. Then remove the ugly reflection map from your car surface and it should already look better. It works in lightwave that way, so i think it shouldn't be aproblem in Cinema also.
