PS: (I did not develop the COFFEE script that allows camera interaction in the viewport)

Checkout the realtime render:

Running Time: 2 minutes (12 mb)
Format: WMV

Quicktime (.mov) High Quality @ 2 minutes was 65 mb, so I had to use WMV sorry about this.

In case you're wondering, C4D Cafe (http://www.c4dcafe.com) is a community for CInema4D users.

Very interesting! This calls for more info, please!
Looks as Sniper on steroids. Is it something that is going to be released somehow?

This is absolutely incredible!!

Please provide us with more info.

If this beast is commercially available I'll buy TEN ;)

can't wait to see more!

I don't even have room for tghe renderfarm that would be needed

uh.... unfortunately, this was not achieved using a single computer... more than a few PCs were involved.

Too bad. Only for studios... [or someone lucky, wealthy or nuts enough to have 100+ computers (cpu's)]

Never the less we need to know more! Some people -do- have more than a few computers :)
How to get in contact with the developers?

it does say they used 300 cpu's - it didn't specify much else, it did say a cluster but many people incorrectly say cluster when it really is not a cluster.

but it would be interesting to read more about it for interest sake.

i'd say in a year with gelato 2.0 (or similar GPU enabled software) this will probably be considered quite a normal thing

There are many other compression choices in QT you know ;)

Only 50 pcs were used in this demonstration. Notice that only 1 material was used at any one time during the render, as rendering time rose unexpectedly high when high polygon count models were used or when more shaders were introduced into the scene.

In the C4D Cafe article someone brought up, 300 Pcs had to be used as there were around 40 objects flying around in the scene with 40 different materials.

Also the script is buggy, very buggy in fact and isn't that friendly with AR2 when using materials/shaders. It will also result in catastrophic crash of C4D when hair or particle are introduced into the scene. Enabling Raytraced or Area Shadows will result in Cinema4D being killed. Literally.

Never the less it shows that an application/plugin such as Sniper -could- access more than the local cpu's to make previews/quick(er) pre-renders.

But who is the developer, I don't get that...

The company who runs the network hired a group of programmers from Sydney, you could try contacting Vitragroup, but it is extremely and very likely they'll simply ignore your request.

does anyone have an idea on how much hiring developpers to do such a task could cost?

I know it's hard to say, but maybe some experienced programmers here can make an estimation?

Or maybe this can be the start for a call for a cinema 4d Bridge ;-)

Thanks.
Let's hope it inspires some of the deep dev's here at least:)

If anyone wants upload any models, I'll try and render it through the network and post some up the results, anyone interested?

Please keep the polygon count as low as possible, preferrably without textures or materials.

I'll have access to the pcs for a few more days before they're finally utilised into doing useful things.

Cheers

That does sound more promissing than the frenderfarm solution... I wonder when they will introduce this technology to C4D...

There been a different one in development for years started workign with cinema over a year ago and is in full testing.

Very cool, I can't find any link to the info you're talking about (300 PCs?)
Reminds me a lot this old cool demo http://www.daionet.gr.jp/~masa/rthdribl/
