Character I'm finishing up the textures for right now. He's around 5200 tris and 2 sets of 1024 maps. He's for a western Half Life 2 mod.

awesome work! have seen your highpoly model at polycount. Textures are great as well, the only thing I can spot is a horizontal seam at the left upper leg, but maybe that's only a rendering issue. btw I'd really like to know, how this turns out ingame, since HL2's render didn't show off the normalmaps that good, when I was playing the game.

Looks beautiful. The only problems I can see are the seam B.T pointed out, and possible some intersecting stuff where his pants end at his shoes and where the holster pokes out through his jacket. Those might not show up in-game though so you could be fine. Also I'd be interested to see how the legs deform; we can't see the geometry on the back of the knee but in the render it looks fine.

Otherwise he's awesome. Great job.

holy smokes, nice texturing, the normal map seems very clean and nice, cant wait to see it in game!, also what program did you use to generate the normal map?

really nice- I like his over coat alot and the finger nails are really creepy. I need to make some charaters and this kind of stuff really gets me inspired.

I've fixed up some of the problems you guys mentioned and I'll try and post some screens when I get him in the engine. Should be sometime this weekend :)

ts_falcon: I used Max's render to texture stuff to make all the normal maps. I ended up rendering each parts normal map seperately than merging it together in photoshop.


I'm also working on a gun for him. We've already got one done for the mod, so this is really just to get more practice doing less organic modeling.

Tight work.

There's a rigid feel to the pants, maybe adding *slight* folds would break that...(unless you're going for a thicker fabric).

EDIT: after viewing your gallery, it looks like baking didnt pick up the folds too good, hi-res looks awesome imo.

Got a website for the mod?
