View Full Version : Local axis for edges
Abraham 01-04-2003, 08:48 PM I had the occasion to get a test drive on XSI this week and discovered that when you work with edges the Y and Z axis in local mode are always aligned with the edge length (sorry, if it's not perfectly clear) In max, they are aligned to the parent instead. The "XSI way" seems to be way more comfortable and I wonder if we can reproduce this in max ? :) Thanks for any help :) Ab

change the coord system to local.
sometimes its cool, soetimes it isnt
theres a script out there [for like max2 or sumpin] that puts a helper along an edge, aligned to it, so that you can use its coords to transform against.
tip: try the screen coord. once you learn your way around it, youll love it.

if u turn on edge snap, you can transform along the edges coords...
i think this is what you want

Thanks :) Yep, that's exactly what I want, I would like to have the local coordinate of an edge aligned with its length instead of them aligned to the local coordinates of the object they belong , will try as soon as possible :) Thanks again :) Ab
