CGTalk - Noise Parameters

Hi,

I was following this tutorial and in the noise paramters rollout for a map in the material editor it said change the Spread and the Bump Smoothing. I can find everything else in there but no where can I find Spread or Bump Smoothing settings. Anyone know where they are? Thanks.

maybe they talk about an older version of max. can u link me to the tutorial to see what is it about?

but anyway for bump smoothing i think you should play with your noise threshold, and for spread maybe they ment to the noise type.

Well, heh, funny you should mention older version.

I'm on Max 5 and the book is Max 4..

Anyway, I think you are right. Even though the pictures in the book look like max five I will experiment like you said.

Edit: The picture in the book shows the Noise Parameters exactly the same. Also, it already has told me what to put in as noise type. It says this:

Noise Type: Fractal
Size: 0.5
Spread: 1.0
Bump Smooting: 0.2
