I'm trying to create a volumetric spotlight ( God Rays ) to shine an old time window ( glass panes ) As there is a camera move I cant use a post solution. I figure you just need to attach mental ray node to one the inputs on your light, and I'm betting its the mib_volume node but i cant for the life of me figure were it plugins. Thanks for your help in advance.

Plug a parti_volume shader into the mental ray> Volume Shader slot of your camera's shape node, attach your light to the parti_volume (you need to explicitly tell the shader which light), adjust the scatter color and extinction (note that the volume effect is scale dependant) and make sure you have some geometry in front of you as you cant render the volume into a plain background environment color. To cast raytraced shadow into the volume, make sure you have your shadow trace depth both in the light and the render globals set to at least 4.
