Hi,

I am rendering 2 layers with Maya software.
In the render layer editor, one had the normal blend mode, the other had the multiply blend mode.
It works fine when rendering manually (I mean inside the UI) but it doesn't work when using the batch render.

How can I use the batch render and my blending options (it ignores the multiply actually).

Thank you.
Best regards,

I believe those blending modes you are talking about are mainly for pre-compositing. It's just there to check if your passes would actually work like you intended when you do the compositing. Nevertheless you should be able to get the tranfer mode setting out of maya by rendering to a layered psd file...

Hi pixlix2,

Thanks for your answer. Yes, it seems that it's only for preview and you can get them in a .PSD.
But unfortunately, I am interested in getting the composited images for a whole animation so opening each image and saving it in jpeg seems a burden to me.
But I could use COM programming to drive photoshop with an exe and make it do the task but I find it like using a tank to kill a fly ! :-)
Thanks anyway !

....maaaaayyyyyybe

you could use a script for this.
I once had this little script installed which extends the renderview by adding controls to render full image sequences and stuff like that. It could work with the blending modes, too - but I'm not sure.

it should be available under this link:
http://www.highend3d.com/maya/downloads/mel_scripts/rendering/mental_ray/2132.html

though right now highend3d.com doesnt work for me, so i cant check

hehe, I believe this could also be done with a batch process from within photoshop

You can use compositing software like Fusion, Shake or After Effects to compose all frames of your shot together.
