Hey gang,

This shouldn't be so difficult, and I'm probably overlooking something really simple, but I'm at my wit's end.

I'm trying to get an image sequence (of a Quicktime Movie) to show up on an image plane, frame by frame, so I can roto some animation. I get the image to show up on the image plane, and I set keys on the frame extension, but the image doesn't update. Am I missing something?

I've double checked in the attribute editor to make sure that the frame number is indeed changing the frame number of the image, and it is, but still nothing. The images are a BMP sequence with the names ranging from

turtle_ref 001.bmp

to

turtle_ref 295.bmp

I also read through the documentation on the image plane, and it mentions that you can use a Quicktime movie with no compression. That didn't work for me either.

Any advice/suggestions? I'm using Maya 4.5.

Thanks in advance!!

The problem is in the names of the image sequence. They must be in the format of: anythingYouLikeHere.###. Maya is looking for the last word in the file where the word separation character is a period. In your case, it's finding the extension "BMP" and that cannot be coerced to a meaningful integer.

Worked like a champ!!

I was exporting from Quicktime Pro. I chose to export as a BMP sequence.

When doing this, make sure you set the name so that it has a "." after the name so that it inserts it before the number.

Thanks again!!
