Ok, might sound stupid. i looked over and over in the forum, didnt find what i wanted..AND i'm no professional:p

I have a footage.
I have a cheap camera.
I want to create a depth of field effect.

Now, i would like to maybe use a gradient for that, with a gaussian blur. BECAUSE i want my footage to be blurry on the right, and sharp on the left, gradiently.

I tried to create an image is CS2 transparent, with only an alpha channel...i feel im on the right track, but iM not getting anywhere...HELP PLEASE!!

Ok! found out how to do it: compound blur, using the alpha gradient done in photoshop to drive it.

If any better solutions, pls let me know!

Thanx!

In After Effects duplicate your footage layer. Create a new solid layer, apply a Effect->Rendereffect->Gradient to the solid. Move this layer on top of your two footage layers and use it as a Luma matte for the layer below. Apply a blur Effect on this footage layer.

No need for creating an extra bitmap in PS.
