View Full Version : Mental ray flicking in animation

I am making a simple animation; one object on the turn table rotates to show my 360 degrees’ modeling.

When I use caustics, I get a nice rendering image I expect, but, when I see its animation, it looks flicking. I think this is a general problem when we use GI or FG.

What are the basic tips to fix it?

I just guess I would eventually need to use FG with correct min/max radius.

hi,
the first thing i would advise you is measuring your scene dimensions, this would be your FG max .radius, the min radius should be 10% of the max radius. also using the filter can help. more information about FG you can find at http://www.jupiter-jazz.com/wordpress/wp-content/data/tr4kv2/html/chapter4-MEM.html

Thanks, znull.
But, do you mean we cannot fix a GI flicking without FG?
Because FG is very expensive rendering, I want to avoid using FG and only use GI if possible.
