View Full Version : The End
Hi
Just started my new still. Will be a last moment of mans life. I understand it is a bit touchy subject, but please be polite and if you are offended by this thread just don't read it.
And I don't have any urge to kill myself, just wanted to create a really dramatic piece. :surprised
He will be holding his gun with both hands and gun will be in the mouth (thats why lips are a bit weird). I think the final view will be from the side so it can be clearly and most dramatically seen.
Any C&C are most welcome and I hope you like it. :)

Started modeling of the gun. Not finished yet, but still hope you like it.
C&C are welcome, as usual. :)

Aww, poor guy, wonder what went wrong in his life.
For the man, I think his neck is a bit too thick, like something is going in his throat and camping out, hehe. Also, his jaw ends prematurely. Try to bring his jawline back some, towards the ear.
On the gun, I really can't say much, since I don't have much knowledge of them, but I think the handle looks too rounded. Try to box it up a little and there usually is a seperation between the gun metal and the grip part of the handle, i could be wrong, but check into it :)
Thank you LiquidStorm3D. I tried to implement in my model what you suggested. The gun is still looking a bit "soft", but I will try to do some more work tomorow. :)
Head itself needs a lot of work and this was only a test render, just to see how it looks. :)

Cheers guys.

Here is something that I found in one of my ebooks on portrait drawing... I think it would help perfectly with your project. I tried to match it up real quick, but if it's too much off, just redo it :) Hope it helps :D

The model is a bit pinchy, can we see a wire of this.
Other than that, its a pretty daunting/extreme image, i wonder how moderators will respond to this kind of image, i hope everything goes well with your postings.
Thanks LiquidStorm3D, great reference images. :)
I totally agree with you Jinian. I will change the title of the thread so that people would be warned. I will further on post only links to images, so no thumbnails or stuff like that would scare people.
Here are the wires and I changed the neck, but only the polyflow, just to get rid of few triangles that were making troubles.

Edit: Oh no I forgot I can't change the name of the thread only the name of first post. Well I hope nobody will be offended as I changed all the thumbnails and put warning on the first post. If mod is reading, could he put that warning on the thread title too? Would really appreciate it.

if your going for dramatic you should look at other art that attempts to do the same thing
such as paintings and sculpture, even movies.
time and time again however the most dramatic piece tends to be the one that shows the act in progress. ware as you are showing the just before the actual act.
to put it in short and simple terms. think of the movie
"(Fight Club) the scene ware the main guy shoots a hole through his face and it does that cool slow mo of his face shaking from the recoil of the gun"
if you havent seen the film its at the vary end of the movie, rent it.
Yeah I know what you are talking about and I remember that scene from Fight Club (Great movie btw).
But I somehow want to show how difficult for him is to pull the triger. The pain, tears in his face that he doesn't want to do it (nobody wants to die like that), but for some reason he has to do it. I think this already is challenging for me (modeling, texturing wise) so all the detail, modeling, to show the exact moment of the death would be too hard. And this already is disturbing as it is so I don't think I will go so far.
Thanks for your time.
Cheers
Think this is going to look great! Donīt know much about faces but the Desert Eagle looks a bitt small.. But I donīt know, just knows that it should be around 27cm long:)
Thanks for stoping by. :)
Yeah I myself realised it only today (thanks god there is wikipedia). I have adjusted it, but it will be a tad smaller than original. It looked HUGE when it was about the original size.
PS: And I really hope I won't earn bad "fame" on cgtalk creating image like this. Hope people will understand me. Ok back on modeling the hand (palm if precise). :)
Cheers and good luck.eRK
Tried to achieve as much realistic as possible human hand. Well not the best modeler, but still trying. :)

hey, looks great, just an idea for you to think about though, this man looks perfectally healthy, and i dont see why he would want to commit suicide, maybe add somthing that explains why he would want to take his own life, but just an idea, really cool now anyway.

I think most reasons for taking suicide are inside a person, and not viewable on the outside. So I don't really think it needs something like that.
I don't know, maybe this is too much. But I think the image would be more powerful if the gun doesn't go straight in. Now it looks more like somebody is stuffing the gun into his mouth, and not himself. In a situation like that noone would be able to put the gun straight into the mouth. Make the gun go less straight into the mouth, and maybe add a "bulge" or so to show that the gun, is really showed into there by somebody under extreme psychological pressure. But that might be too much.
Hey thanks Phoenixs for advice, I'll try to make that ''bulge'', nervouse look.
Here is some test render, just testing the pose of the hand, the overall look. Got to admit skinning is killing me, those fingers, those fingers... :scream:

Testing lighting and the overall pose, look, composition. :)

C&C are welcome and I promise my next work will be ''lighter'' idea, concept wise. :arteest::blush:
HI, worked on the neck, hand and unwraped the head.
Still something is bugging about the neck, something isn't right about it.
Hope to start texturing it soon. :)

Added small tear, but I really don't know if I will keep it though. Any ideas?
Any feedback would be awesome.

link isnt working ;)
Sorry for that link (don't know why it isn't working though). And I didn't even get email notification, so sorry for this. ;)
Anyway here is a texture test. Still something wrong with bump maps (ear and beard for example) and there is no spec map for hands. But I am getting there. :)

hey just noticed somthing, his jawbone is either too far forward or his ear is too far back, the jawbone should come up and meet the ear, check your reference or your own face.

This is extreme nitpicking on the gun, but the gun scale seems to be a little small still. It looks like you had scaled it up from earlier shots, but still at its current state, it looks to be about the size of a 9MM Beretta. Having fired a .50 cal Desert Eagle, I can tell you it is a massive gun! If you would like, I believe I have some images of when I was shooting it, that you could get a good idea on the scale of the hand to the gun. Other than that, I think the scene looks great! Good work!

Thanks for your feedback Flewda! Sorry I didn't read your post as I have finished the piece I don't need those photos. And I wonder why I didn't get email about your posting. Lately this happens more often.
Anyway, I have decided to let it go and finish it. I know there are some pretty weak places in it, but overall I think it is not bad.
Don't know if I will post it in te Gallery due to its ''touchy content''. It may offend somebody, but I don't want to do it.
So here it is:

Both links work for me.
Looks good earth. But I think it would be better if it had a proper background. Maybe some more interesting/dramatic lightning to underline the situation.
