Hi all, I'm trying to develop skills in [sub-d organic / techincal] modeling (specifically using 3ds max) and I'm not sure how to advance my skill, I currently suck with no hopes of getting better. I know every good modeler was once at my skill level, so how did you guys get good? Do you remember any DvDs / tutorials etc that you remember really helped you learn along the way? If so please share them with me, what do I need to do to get good at modeling? Thanks for any help.

For Organic modeling the dvds that really helped me and changed my entire approach to modeling were...

Freedom of Teach - Anatomical Modeling 1 - Tariq Mirza
Hyper-Realistic Modeling - Jeff Unay
Gnomon Head Modeling for Games - Mayan Escelante

Even if you are not interested in LowPoly stuff the games dvd is excellent for a guide of how to rough out forms in a clean, flowing way

They are for MAYA but the techniques are what is important and they can be reproduced using 3dsMax tools.

For more general character modeling there is always the good old Joan of Arc tutorial
