I'm trying to track down the smd_export.zip from here: http://games.nad.qc.ca/smd_export.zip

The link seems to be broken. Has anyone seen it elsewhere? (i've searched).

Loom, i'm not sure that's the one I'm looking for (I use this one already). The one I was looking for was an actual maxscript.

Perhaps it's outdated and the plugin is the only one i'm supposed to use?

cannonfodders tools are great. use the smd exporter to export your model to smd format and then pick cf's awesome studiocompiler to make a mdl file out of your smd.

but i would recommend to write your own qc files for compiling, because the studiocompiler is a little bit buggy concerning lod's and attachment's. but it's more comfortable then a fuc*ing command prompt

for further information about qc files i recommend http://www.hl2world.com there in the tutorial section are some good tut's.
